I think it is time to give this site up. All that is being put is stuff from the Arabs. And they are either Jihadist or copyright. nothing that I find of any value is coming here anymore. i hope you enjoy what is here now, I don't. Good luck Telephone Toughguy.

Yup. Submissions to this site used to go through some kind of review. Either that review process has been completely abandoned, or some of the archive.org staff has some odd sympathies.

My guess is that it's simply coming in faster than the Archive-ists can screen. Every day the "recently added" seems to have a couple-three new pages.

I year ago they took down one of NC's songs because they were unsure of the copyright ownership. Mostly because it was uploaded via ourmedia and none of the fields containing the CC licensing came over. There is a drastic difference now, shakira songs and anything else just dumped without any description or anything. I am not quite sure as to why some of the stuff is allowed but I do see it being taken down in come cases where I point it out, so I don't think it's an active conspiracy to leave the stuff up. I do see a definite preference for certain political flavors in spotlighted items and curators choice though. Not sure what the motivation is...

Here are some suggestions, one last time:

1. When applying for a login and password send a confirmation and validate the email. That ends most of the spam bots and dumpers with phony email addresses.

2. Make certain fields in the meta data mandatory (copyright information, description, author, etc) Reject anything without those fields.

If I spoke Arabic, I'd happily volunteer some time to help sort out the legitimate stuff from the snuff films and pirated dreck. Even the jihadi propaganda has a place in history, I suppose, although a separate place to store it would be nice.

How about it, Archive users? Is there anyone out there who speaks Arabic who can help clean this place up so we can all enjoy it?
